Weekly Meal Plan: March 28-April 3

I’m in the middle of a little break from my childcare job this week. I love being at home so it’s nice to have a few more days where I don’t have to go anywhere. I’ve been cooking a lot, too – I made mayonnaise, a gallon of yogurt, sour cream, and a bunch of peanut butter. I also cooked that pesky pork roast that I mentioned last week. It worked quite well on top of taco salad. I could still taste a faint pork flavor, but Jesse said that he thought it was a nice change of pace from our normal beef roast or ground beef.

Here’s what we’ll be eating this week:

Wednesday: Salmon with salad

Thursday: Meatballs with veggies

Friday: Pasta sauce with spaghetti squash, salad

Saturday: Apple sausages with veggies

Sunday: Sirloin kabobs with peanut sauce and veggies

Monday: Taco salad

Tuesday: Roast with veggies

Other News

I’m also using my time off to start packing our stuff for our impending move. I’m trying to get creative about places to stash boxes but I can already see that we’re probably going to run out of space fast. If I only had a basement or garage…but then I suppose having either of those would negate the need for the move in the first place. :) Oh well! I am definitely not a neat freak so I should be able to manage living in chaos for the next three weeks.

While packing, I have been listening to the Little House books on CD. I don’t particularly love the narrator (at least not in comparison to the wonderful Jim Dale), but the books are quite entertaining to listen to while working. I read them all when I was in elementary school but not since so I’m having fun “reading” them again. I am continually amazed both by how many skills the characters possess as well as how content they are with the few small comforts in their lives.

A Question for You

Have any of you ever cooked a goose? I keep nearly running out of pastured chickens so I’ve been eying the pastured geese in our farm’s webstore. They are on sale and are currently roughly the same price as what I pay for chickens. For some reason I feel really intimidated about cooking a goose, though. I suppose because it’s so big. Am I silly to be scared? Care to share any goose-cooking experiences with me?
