Update on Using Milk of Magnesia as Deodorant

You may remember that back in March I started using milk of magnesia as my new natural deodorant. A couple weeks ago I finally finished up my first bottle of milk of magnesia so I thought I’d give an update on how it’s been working.

I’m happy to report that the milk of magnesia is still working fabulously well. I’ve been using various natural deodorants since adolescence and this beats them all hands down. I apply the milk of magnesia in the morning and most of the time I don’t notice even a hint of underarm odor by the time I go to sleep at night.…

Frozen Wild Fish at Costco!

Although Jesse and I have been shopping at our local Costco for nearly four years now, from time to time I still manage to stumble upon items that I had no idea Costco sold. While I’m sure this is partly due to the fact that Costco periodically adds new inventory, I also seem to have just failed to fully wade through the depths of Costco’s offerings. What can I say – Costco is a big place!

Anyway, my newest discovery is Costco’s frozen fish section. I’ve bought fresh fish at Costco many times, but I’d never examined the frozen fish section until Melissa from Dyno-mom mentioned that she buys frozen wild hake at Costco.…

One Month Garden Update

It’s been one month since we planted the bulk of our container garden! Let me fill you in on how things have been going. First, this is what the main area of our garden looked like after we planted everything a month ago:

Here’s what it looks like now:

As you can see there’s been quite a bit of growth! I didn’t actually realize that it was quite this dramatic. Seeing everything every day like I do makes it harder to tell. 🙂

That whole front row is basil. I think we have just about every option covered as far as how all the plants are doing.…

How to Do a Clay Mask

Over the past few years I have tried a lot of skin care products. Many I’ve given up because they were too expensive, too time-consuming, or didn’t fit my natural living philosophy. One product that I’ve stuck with is cosmetic clay. From what I’ve read, clay is about as natural as it gets and I really enjoy incorporating it into my skin care routine.

I initially got into clay masks because they’re supposed to be good for acne. In theory, at least, clay pulls toxins and impurities out of your skin, leaving a clearer, more vibrant complexion. I’ve never seen any obvious evidence that clay masks are doing this for my skin, but I keep doing them because I like the way they make my skin feel.…

Planting the Rest of Our Container Garden

Last weekend Jesse and I planted the rest of our container garden. If you haven’t been following my gardening posts, you might want to catch up by reading about planning for my first garden and my first day of gardening.

Our Setup

First of all, let me show you most of the new additions:

That’s one pot of red bell peppers, six pots of basil, one pot of cherry tomatoes and one pot of Early Girl tomatoes. We picked Early Girl because Colorado has a short growing season and, as the name implies, Early Girl starts producing tomatoes earlier than some other varieties.…
